thINKingDANCE is a collective of writers who produce a FREE online journal about dance.

We identify as being BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, parents, scholars, people who have emigrated to the US, teachers, creatives, elders, young professionals, and community organizers. Using our collective identities as lenses to our writing, we are re-envisioning the possibilities within dance criticism and are building an important archive of dance and movement-based art.

We recently selected fifteen new writers from a pool of twenty-six to join the thINKingDANCE team. Since September, thay have been actively engaged in covering an abundant season of dance performances. We are looking forward to reading their upcoming reviews of dance in Philadelphia.

More writers mean more voices.

More writers enable broader coverage of dance performances, events, and phenomena.

More writers energize tD’s effort to focus on what matters: that when bodies move, art happens!

Now — with your help and a spirit of abundance — we’re asking you to match their energy with a donation to support the amazing work of thINKingDANCE. Your contribution to tD will support and strengthen this next generation of dance writers and keep this important mission going.

This year, we reached over 23,000 readers with the skillful analysis and thoughtful commentary of tD articles. People from over 130 countries read performance reviews, essays, book reviews, and interviews published on our site, connecting us to our broader communities. We invited guest educator Eva Yaa Asantewaa, a leading dance writer with over 50 years of experience of dance criticism and curation to engage with our writers. Through guided discussions about what is challenging, meaningful, and exciting about dance writing, she inspired us to meet the practice of writing with care and generosity of attention.

We welcome your participation in tD. 100% of your donation supports thINKingDANCE
