Leila Mire is a New York-based dancer, choreographer, educator, researcher, and writer whose study focuses on the intersection between gender and politics. She has performed and created work nationally and internationally. Mire has written for Maryland Theatre Guide and is published for her research on “Orientalism and the Perpetuation of Racist Stereotypes in the Nutcracker.” She is a current recipient of the Young Alumni Commissioning Project, the Excellence in Dance Writing Award from George Mason University, and the NYC Mayoral Teaching Award. She is also a Digital Content Platform Awardee, and an Aseemkala Fellow. She holds a BFA from George Mason University’s Honors College.
