Megan Stern

Megan was born and raised in North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, graduating with a BFA in Dance in 2009. After performing, choreographing, and teaching in Winston-Salem, NC for two years, she moved to Philadelphia in 2011. Megan is a founding member of the Philadelphia-based contemporary dance company The Naked Stark and has also worked with Leah Stein Dance Company, Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Co., Vervet Dance, and Group Motion. Her own choreography has been presented in the 2014 Fringe Festival show Necessary Efforts (produced by The Naked Stark) and in the ETC. Performance Series, and she has performed improvisations several times in the H-O-T series of Philadelphia.

Contact Improvisation (CI) has been an important practice for Megan for almost 10 years and she travels regularly to attend workshops and jams. She has studied intensively with master teachers Nancy Stark Smith, Karen Nelson, Yves Candau, and Alicia Grayson. She also teaches CI and is one of the facilitators for the weekly jam in Philadelphia.

In 2013, Megan completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Beyond Asana and has taught at Yoga on the Ridge, 12th Street Gym, and Temple University. She is currently enrolled in the Feldenkrais Professional Training Program in New York City.
