Ziying Cui is a scholar, choreographer, and dancer, currently Visiting Lecturer at Duke Kunshan University. She earned her PhD in Dance from Temple University, following an MFA in Contemporary Dance from Case Western Reserve University and a BA in Dance Theory and History from the Beijing Dance Academy. She is a staff writer, editor, and communications team member at thINKingDANCE.
Ziying Cui is a scholar, choreographer, and dancer, currently Visiting Lecturer at Duke Kunshan University. She earned her PhD in Dance from Temple University, following an MFA in Contemporary Dance from Case Western Reserve University and a BA in Dance Theory and History from the Beijing Dance Academy. Her research focuses on the hybridity of Chinese dance and ballet in postsocialist China, as well as the development of ballet and transnational Chinese dance practices. She has published in Asian Theatre Journal and presented at major conferences, including the Association for Asian Performance and the Dance Studies Association. Alongside her scholarship, she has created choreographic works for concerts and festivals in Philadelphia.
