Fables opens with confrontation: twelve bodies collide and resist one
Originally from China, Yuying is an independent artist, choreographer, improviser, and dancer who focuses on choreography, improvisation, interdisciplinary study, and dance education. She attended Temple University where she received her Masters of Fine Art in Dance. During this time, she studied a multitude of modern and contemporary movement languages such as Wim, Gaga, and Cunningham. She has also trained in Chinese Classic and Folk Dance. She strives to combine her Chinese dance training background with contemporary dance to create a more personal dance language while valuing individuality and humanity. Her goal is to free herself from established traditional dance techniques and to make the intelligence of her body and her knowledge of art more powerful than what is visible on stage.
