PS #13: Continuity vs. Change

Some choreographers make work that’s radically different show to show. Some make what looks like the same dance  over and over with different costumes, music or settings. Some move from one mode to the other. How do you think continuity and change is best thought about in the course of an artist’s career? Examples?

Celebrating Philadelphia’s Black Dance Legacies

“Without [them] we wouldn’t have had a portal to come through.”

The West Philadelphia High Dance Ensemble performs in front of an audience seated around the perimeter of the room. The dancers stand close to each other with their arms raised mid-clap overhead.
